University of Bradford: New Framework (Media release excerpt)

PSK appointed to UOB Framework as Project Managers

The University of Bradford has renewed its consultants framework and is poised to establish a contractors framework for its next £65 million capital programme.

The framework was set up by Brian Ford, Estate Manager, Building, who is a Building Surveyor and since moved to Leeds University and his former colleague a Mechanical Engineer Russel Smith, whose title is Estate Manager, Engineering.

One of the key changes made to the new Framework is the splitting up of Design and Project Management.

Bradford's belief is Architects are not always best placed to provide this service, though Architect Farrell and Clark which worked well with Bradford to reduce its project management scope and fees under the old framework found its way onto the new framework.

The Best

On the Project Management front, there is a brand new framework and the three firms that made it are Batley based PSK Prout Tilbrook; described simply as "the most impressive" firm at the interview stage and currently working on a £8 million scheme for Bradford, Gleeds and Faithful & Gould. This firm might also be one of those consultants affected by the downturn in the private sector and now just as keen on the public sector.
